What is Universe Spirt and What Does it Do?

Universe Spirit is an all-volunteer non-profit organization, which is very rare these days. Our volunteers are independent, self-organizing individuals who have a passion for science and healthy spirituality.

Our volunteers self-organize and coordinate to handle our social media, marketing, research, events, and even accounting. Our volunteers do all of the blog postings as they have done for many years.

Additionally, if you also think of our organization as a not-for-profit media platform (like Facebook) where passionate researchers and social activists meet electronically to collaborate and coordinate, share effective ideas and comments, and then independently act on self-chosen and self-organized projects, you would have a very good idea of how we get everything done with volunteers and what our unique organization is.

Universe Spirit at its core is an educational organization. It offers an empowering new worldview that integrates and balances current science with philosophy and a life-affirming personalized spiritual philosophy for those of a spiritual nature.

We are here to inspire you to:

• learn,
• adapt,
• evolve,
• thrive, and
• become an Evolutioneer of a better future. 

Our primary mission includes helping you create a healthy, sustainable prosperity for yourself and your loved ones while you also help create a sustainable and equitable world for all. 

Our greatest news may be that we can do this! But only if we work together to resolve or slow the rapid worsening of the world's 12 greatest crises. (These 12 worsening global crises, which we often refer to as the coming Great Global Collapse, are described in detail on this page.)

Please do not confuse us with an apocalyptic or survivalist organization! On the contrary, we are composed of mature adults who know that we must acknowledge and deal with the current worsening reality to build a better existence. More than dealing only with the 12 major global crises we now face, our organization is far more focused on creating the possibilities of the Great Global Rebirth. (The many benefits of the Great Global Rebirth are described on this page and then on this page.)

Even though we are focused on creating the Great Global Rebirth, we still need to get past the Great Global Collapse to get to the Great Global Rebirth's many benefits. So, in essence, our most current and relevant message for the time we are living in --- is simple:

"We must now wisely prepare for and adapt to the many hardships of an accelerating Great Global Collapse. These prepare and adapt actions will allow us to survive long enough to create the beautiful possibilities and sustainable benefits of the Great Global Rebirth."

How Universe Spirit and its members are boldly facing the world's 12 greatest global crises

To have any realistic hope of achieving a more equitable and sustainable world we must first deal with the single largest disruptor, threat multiplier, and threat amplifier of the 21st-century. That is the escalating global warming emergency and how it worsens our other 11 major global challenges. 

Surviving our global warming emergency as well as the worsening of our other 11 global crises means working wisely with those who are ready. It means preparing for and adapting to the many now unavoidable consequences. It also means that we do everything we can to live more sustainably right now to slow down the many catastrophic processes that we have collectively and individually created by our past decisions.

The good news is that If we act wisely, we will still have time to save and salvage everything we can! We also have a rational and ethical responsibility to act now and, if you are of a spiritual nature, a moral responsibility and duty to:

a. learn from our mistakes,

b. enact new, more sustainable, and equitable practices,

c. prepare for the coming consequences that are now unavoidable,

d. improve what we still can to slow and lessen coming consequences as much as is possible,

e. adapt to what we can't change, and,

f. evolve wisely so that future generations and biological life will also survive and thrive.

Universe Spirit will help you:

1. Realize and acknowledge the rapidly worsening many global crises that we have created for ourselves by our collective and individual poor decisions and actions. You can't chart a new and better path until you know where you are starting from and what got you there.

2. Make better choices for creating lifestyles and livelihoods for a thriving, equitable, and sustainable prosperity for all. Creating sustainable lifestyles and livelihoods is absolutely critical to making it through the global warming emergency and our other major 11 global challenges.

3. Prepare for and adapt to humanity's worsening 12 most dangerous ecological, economic, and social global crises, particularly the global warming extinction emergency.

Create supportive eco-communities worldwide. (in your current local area or, a global warming-safer location.) These new eco-communities will be far better prepared to survive and thrive through the unavoidable onslaught of accelerating global warming consequences and the severe consequences of the other 11 global crises' worsening.

There are many coming ecological, climate, economic, and other catastrophes that we can no longer prevent or stop, no matter what we do at this point. 5. Live fulfilling, healthy, value-filled, and meaningful enjoyable lives no matter what is going on around us. This meaning and joy are essential because of the hardships we will individually and collectively endure until we make the global transition to a more equitable and sustainable world.

6. Model and be successful examples of community sustainability and fairness principles and behaviors. These successful new communities will facilitate future generations and biological life surviving and thriving sustainably despite the difficult, deadly, and unavoidable consequences we must now endure. 

7. Become an evolutioneer: An Evolutioneer is an individual who sees themselves both as embedded in the evolutionary process in one universal union and --- simultaneously as proactive co-agents and partners with evolution. As a major aspect of Evolutioneer's lives, they do their best to awarely and intentionally live out their evolutionary co-creative roles to forward the positive progression of evolution and life in the Universe.

You can become an Evolutioneer and part of the greatest evolutionary challenge and opportunity in human history, which is:

building a more sustainable and equitable world for all while simultaneously also saving:

a. ourselves,

b. humanity,

c. future generations, and

d. our civilization from the rapidly worsening 12 global crises.

Our 12 Greatest Evolutionary Challenges Defined

Humanity is facing its greatest evolutionary challenge and adventure!. The challenge is the worsening of our 12 major global crises. 

How we manage these worsening 12 global crises will determine humanity's future quality of life and even humanity's future survival.

The good news about these worsening 12 major global crises is that once we get them under control, we will have the opportunity to experience some of the greatest advances and benefits in the history of humanity!

The 12 most dangerous global crises and challenges are: 

Global Crises and Challenge 1: Resolving the current COVID-19 global pandemic. 

 

Global Crises and Challenge 2: increasing global economic instabilities that are leading to regularly reoccurring global and national recessions or depressions occurring over shorter and shorter time periods.

Global Crises and Challenge 3: Over-population, the Earth has the carrying capacity for about 1and 1/2 billion to 2 billion people maximum as shown in the illustration below. On average, about 141 million people are born every year, and 50 million people a year normally die.

We are currently at near 8 billion people racing to 9.8 billion by or before 2050. (Please click this carrying capacity link for more about why our beyond carrying capacity and rapidly rising overpopulation challenge is extremely dangerous to everyone's future.)

 

One could easily say that overpopulation and its inherent over-consumption beyond our carrying capacity is also a major cause behind today's global warming emergency. Please also note that as the global population continues to rise, the additional population serves to further amplify and multiply the most harmful consequences of almost all the 12 global challenges and consequences listed on this page.) 

 

 

Global Crises and Challenge 4: Over-consumption causing ever-rising global resource depletion (aka global resources overshoot) caused by overpopulation, toxic pollution of water, lands, and air, crop failures, overfishing, topsoil loss, resource distribution injustice, and the massive “overconsumption and waste” of the Earth's finite resources. Global resource depletion will significantly increase food shortages and cause soaring food prices leading to more starvation and mass migrations.

Global Resource depletion is considered by most experts to be the core contributing cause behind or feeding all of our other global crises.

 

Global Crises and Challenge 5: escalating pollution of lands, air, and waters. Ongoing and accelerating toxic pollution kills crops, fish stocks, and poisons our air, water, and soil creating and accelerating all types of global health, social, and economic problems. (Ocean heating and ocean acidification from carbon from global warming will eventually kill off much of the oceans' oxygen-producing plankton. These plankton are responsible for as much as 50% of all oxygen produced on the planet.) 

 

Global Crises and Challenge 6: loss of biodiversity, we are having more plants and animals go extinct than at any other time in human history. This is due to an ongoing and accelerating loss of natural habitat due to overpopulation, global warming, overuse, pollution, etc. (Leading Stanford University biologists, who were first to reveal that we are already experiencing the sixth mass extinction on Earth, released new research this week showing species extinctions are accelerating in an unprecedented manner, which may be another tipping point for the collapse of human civilization.)

 

Global Crises and Challenge 7: growing economic inequality, social and racial injustice, hunger, and poverty. Today less than 1% of the world's population owns more than 50% of all wealth. Over the last several decades, this ownership percentage continues to grow in favor of the wealthy. 

Growing economic inequality and poverty often increase food shortages and often cause food prices to soar leading once again to mass starvation and mass migrations. 

 

Global Crises and Challenge 8: Escalating local, regional, and international criminality, conflicts, terrorism, and war. Expect these population-destabilizing security and stability threats to increase in their intensity, frequency, and scale. This threat escalation will occur from the urban and rural local levels to regional and international levels. 

Vastly increased levels of survival-driven criminality, conflicts, terrorism, and war will be due to the world experiencing almost all of the global challenges on this page getting steadily worse. Global nuclear war or widespread chemical or biological war is also a real and escalating threat as most of the global challenges on this page worsen. 

 

Global Crises and Challenge 9: Mass migrations; due to political and economic instability, increasing terrorism, conflicts, and war plus global warming and many of the other listed global challenges on this page. These things will both create and increase sudden, massive migrations of millions then billions of desperate refugees and climagees. During this phase, as most of the listed global challenges on this page intensify, various stronger governments will order precautionary evacuations of selected individuals and groups to limit casualties and losses from their most vulnerable areas. Before 2030-2035 because of global warming alone, the world will see hundreds of millions of climagees (climate refugees.)

 

Global Crises and Challenge 10: New COVID-19 like pandemics as well as other new and older disease epidemics will likely flare up over shorter and shorter time periods. This will in part be due to global warming melting of the permafrost, loss of natural animal habitat, eating more wild animals, overcrowding, less resilient health systems, mass migrations, wars and conflicts, and many of the other challenges and consequences listed on this page. 

Additionally, new and older disease epidemics will occur more frequently and be more severe because of the abuse of antibiotics in animal product production. This abuse has resulted in bacteria that are now resistant to every known type of antibiotic. 

 

Global Crises and Challenge 11: increasing political instability and collapsing governments. Fueled by existing internal and external conflicts, soaring deficits, mass migrations, and the intensifying global challenges listed on this page, poorly managed nations with weak economies and low existing resilience will fall first. In 2020 we already see numerous countries on the verge of economic or political collapse. As the increased stresses of these listed global challenges continue to increase upon all nations, stronger nations will also steadily collapse. And finally, what is the most dangerous challenge and collapse accelerator of all.

 

Global Crises and Challenge 12: The ever-accelerating global warming extinction emergency. This global warming emergency is causing escalating desertification, sea-level rise, flooding, deforestation, reef collapse, droughts, wildfires, extreme storms, and the spread of diseases through epidemics and pandemics. All of these global warming-specific consequences are increasing scale, severity, and frequency as our average global temperature continues to rise. 

Accelerating global warming is the single greatest disruptor and global threat multiplier of the 21st century. It can directly or indirectly significantly amplify and multiply the adverse consequences of almost every other global crisis listed on this page. The global warming emergency in itself, if not resolved soon, will cause the deaths of most of humanity by mid-century. Worse yet, because of global warming long before 2050 we will also cross three total extinction-evoking global warming tipping points. (These three critical global warming tipping points are described here.)

Global warming is also very bad for the world's economy. The rising consequences of the global warming emergency will eventually consume larger and larger percentages of every nation's Gross Domestic Productivity (GDP.) Loss estimates run from 3-5% of national GDPs now to as much as 30% of the total national GDPs in the final phases of the global warming emergency!

As global warming reaches its later Climageddon Scenario phases, it will become far more likely that we will destroy ourselves in a massive war or nuclear conflict over the remaining scarce resources or the very limited global warming safest lands.

Excluding the challenge of having no real global government (which is an evolutionary, structural, and developmental issue) and immediate global thermonuclear war, our out-of-control global warming is the single most dangerous global challenge today.

Our Mission and Managing Humanity's 12 Global Crisis

Our mission is to both support existing Evolutioneers and Universe Citizens and help create new ones who will work to lessen and resolve these 12 crises and create a more equitable, sustainable, and thriving future for all! 

These empowered Evolutioneers and Universe Citizens will do this by using an approach that is:

1. rational and science grounded,

2. big-picture and evolutionary,

3. based on universal values, and,

4. for those of a spiritual nature, informed by the values of a healthy personalized spirituality.

To achieve our mission, we are forced to prioritize many of our actions on the single greatest disruptor and threat multiplier of the 21st-century, our accelerating global warming emergency.

How Can We Face the Covid Pandemic, Our Global Economic Challenges, and the Double Whammy of Our Worsening Global Crises?

We face an unparalleled moment of collective challenge far beyond the current global and local hardships of the Covid 19 pandemic with its isolation and economic hardships. We are also facing a cataclysmic DOUBLE whammy that almost no one is talking about.

Because of the 12 major global crises we currently face, If we do not radically and immediately change our behavior, we are looking at global and local consequences far worse than both the collective and total consequences of the current Covid pandemic and its global recession!

That is the true seriousness and urgency of the second part of our double whammy.

Because of our ignoring 35 years of valid scientific warnings about global warming and the steady worsening of many of the 11 other global crises, we now also face the unavoidable die-off of much of humanity by mid-century and the growing likelihood of the total extinction of humanity before the end of the 21st century --- unless we immediately make radical global changes!

To survive this double whammy and this unprecedented moment of collective and individual challenge will require great wisdom, sacrifice, and cooperation, as well as enduring many hardships which humanity has never faced before. Because of the rapidly unfolding dangers of both extinction consequences, it is completely appropriate to want to use your remaining time and energy as wisely as possible.

1. Doing everything you can to save and salvage as much of humanity and civilization as you can while you still can. Effective collective and individual action is now critical because doing nothing means losing everything even sooner! Saving something while we still can, will always be better than saving nothing! a. be well-prepared for,

b. adapt to, and,

c. work diligently to slow global fossil fuel use, causing accelerating environmental destruction, economic loss, and suffering. Worse yet, if we are not successful in radically reducing our global fossil fuel use to these levels, we will face total extinction.
