There are many implicit or implied Genesis stories within the diverse cultures and religions of our world. Genesis stories are more than just stories about origins. They instill an early powerful behavior molding sense of identity, values and destiny.
Most Genesis stories indicate the individuals place, meaning, responsibilities and role in this world as well as their or their culture's proper relationship to other individuals, cultures and things. Most Genesis stories imply a destiny for the individual, the individual's culture and the world/cosmos. They often describe a special role for the main cultural group central to the Genesis story. This special group role usually conveys special privileges or responsibilities over and often to the disadvantage of other groups and things.
Implicit or implied Genesis stories (in the sense of the broader definition of Genesis story functions,) may be among the most powerful but subtle creators of an individual's or a culture's worldview and that individual's or culture's values and problem solving behavior in the world. In our shrinking 21st century world powerful past Genesis stories from different groups and cultures that previously had little contact are coming into greater collision and creating dangerous social and national conflicts and fragmentation.
Most Genesis stories were created thousands of years ago when mankind was just beginning to function at the level of the tribe and at a time when knowledge about the physical world and the Ever Present Origin in all its manifestations and purposes was overwhelmingly less than today.
Today as we are becoming a new type of global tribe a New Genesis Story needs to be written that performs all of the critical functions of the old Genesis stories as well as some new functions. This will greatly facilitate humankind having improved and far more appropriate self and worldview values that also allow humankind to live better together and better manage the serious challenges of our current world and shared future.
It is likely this New Genesis Story will take the best from the world's current Genesis stories and integrate that deep spiritual wisdom of the Ever Present Origin in all its manifestations and purposes with the collective spiritual wisdom that has been added to the human knowledge base since the creation of the original Genesis stories. Next, it will then integrate into that spiritual wisdom vision the best of our current scientific understanding of life and the cosmos.
This New Genesis Story will address many new things through upgraded definitions of individual identity, sub group and global group identity, an expansion of an individuals place, meaning, value, responsibilities and role in this world as well as their current culture's proper relationship to other individuals, cultures and things and finally, better define the individual's, sub-group's and the global tribe's destiny.
Among the many challenges, the New Genesis Story must prepare the evolving global tribe for the partial and appropriate co-creation of its own genetic future though the genetic sciences as well as the mathematical probability of eventual encounters with other worlds and life forms and the other ethical dilemmas as we explore outer space. It must also instill a new sense of an equally shared yet common, vital identity within the evolving global tribe and a sense connectedness to our shared living and non-living environmental systems.
The widespread assimilation of this upgraded Genesis story will do much to create and forward a new and/or expanded personal identity (self image) and worldview (world image.) These powerful new image upgrades will do much to structurally improve how individuals and cultures all over the world behave in relation to each other (as parts of the global tribe) and in relationship to the living and non living systems of the world itself.
The New Genesis Story project is one of Integrative Spirituality's most important projects because of its potential to do so much lasting good at a fundamentally structural self and world image level. We believe that both integral and Spiral perspectives will contribute much to this new story and that the New Genesis Story could become a significant contribution to the developing ideas and ideals of the second enlightenment.
We would love to have your collaborative assistance in co-creating this project.
Our first phase will be a collaboration for setting out all the criteria for what the Genesis story upgrade should do and deal with in relation to among many things the Ever Present Origin, the individual, our collective past and present deep spiritual wisdom, our current scientific understanding of life and the cosmos, humanity in all its diversity (the global tribe,) the proper place of our sub tribes and, both the current and future social and resource challenges of our globalizing world. This challenging project will also have to figure out how this new story can be built upon and will work with and honor the rich and valuable diversity of past Genesis stories.
The next phase will entail creating several versions of the New Genesis Story and through open commentary, editing and voting. Eventually we will come to a version 1.0 of this story that can then begin to be used in our and other organizations. once we arrive at version 1.0 we will also begin to adapt this first version to the various Spiral Consciousness levels.
