At Integrative Spirituality we believe that the creation and expansion of an integral spiritual commons is a vital tool for expanding the dissemination of the integral worldview and for the expansion of the global integral community. There are many new integral ideas, values, processes and applications that are now being developed independently within the many separate global integral communities. The creation of an integral spiritual commons and MeshWORKS in an open source, neutral, non commercial and non personality or brand focused community space (such as we are providing at Integrative Spirituality,) allows for greater inter-community and individual co-creation, cross pollination and community validity testing of these new developing integral ideas, values, processes and applications.
In an evolving integral commons and meshWORKS co-creation, cross pollination and community validity testing is ideally achieved through a collaborative and respectful process that we call integral 'coopertition (that is not a misspelling, but a new word that means co-operation combined with healthy competition.) This coopertition process notices and respects the necessary differences in perspectives in current integral approaches, but focuses upon the recognized common and pressing greater world centric and common community needs --- needs that would be best served by expanding an integral commons and its consequent synergetic ability to support and promote of an open source, evolving Integral Worldview.
What is most exciting about this evolving open source integral commons is that as a integral community of peers it holds the truth that at some level, we ALL can truly be self organizing co-creators, cross pollinating and validity testing emerging integral ideas and applications. In this commons the Integral Worldview that connects, energizes and motivates us as individuals or groups, can be strengthened, refined and then spread as a new and revitalizing, pragmatic hope for the future.
To help expand the Integral Commons we have just created a new ezine. The reason why we call our new ezine "The Integral Commons" is because we believe that integral spirituality in all its healthy forms holds a most realistic promise and ability to reach and influence the greatest portion of the world's population (an estimated 70% of the world's non-postmodern religious population,) though their own (hopefully soon to be) more integrally informed faiths. This unparalleled ability to dramatically influence the future of the world though already existing, inherent spiritual leverage applied by integrally informed religions and individuals is what may be the single most practical hope that humankind has to realistically mitigate the many species threatening global challenges that we currently face.
Who knows, some day spirituality may be thought of as not just another line of integral development, but as the central vertical axis of a 3 dimensional, all domains model. And, it might be said that along this 3 dimensional vertical axis (running through manifest matter, time and space) that the main developmental line of the involution and evolution of manifest Spirit itself takes place.
As we finally come to understand more about what could turn out to be the axial spiritual hub line for all of manifest evolutionary development, we may also come to understand toward near ultimate levels more about the purpose(s) of existence as well as more about the oneness of perspective behind and moving evolution in and though the 4 quadrants through time.
