Jeffrey Sean Pool was voted by the members and visitors of Universe Spirit as our Humorist Artist for the fall quarter 2006.
Jeffrey Sean Pool is a bit of a polymath, and then some. Being very eclectic in nature, Jeffrey adheres to Bruce Lee's philosophy "absorb what is useful". Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity, Zen, Taoism, along with aspects of the martial way all play a part in his belief structure.
He loves the Journey. His family and all people are his most passionate heart. From that flows a powerful interest in spirituality, martial arts, and performing along with world service.
Even at a very young age Jeff has been excited about esoteric and martial arts. In his mid-teens he began his training in Tae Kwon Do. After a few years he began to meditate. From 1984 to 1988 he lived in South Carolina while he serving in the United States Navy. He continued to train, meditate and study on his own.
When he came back to California he sought a qualified teacher in Ninjutsu. While studying in the Bujinkan under Shihan Kevin Millis for several years, Jeff met Daniel O’Hara who led him to Pranic Healing in 1995.
In September of 1998, Black Belt magazine published his article on using everyday items to defend one’s self. After 9/11 he wrote an outline for a security force for the city of Los Angeles.
Teaching children martial arts has been another adventure that warms his heart. Not only does he instruct them in awareness and defending themselves, but Sensei Jeff does it with passion, fun and spirituality.
In 2000, Daniel came up with the idea for a Pranic Healing List which is sent out to the world, via the Internet, once a week. The torch was handed to Jeff who has been sending out the list ever since.
Four or five years ago, Jeff heard about a program call Feed Your Soul that was developed by his Teacher Grandmaster Choa Kok Sui. Having personally trained with Grandmaster Choa, Jeff felt a stirring in his heart to help. Since 2003 he has been feeding the homeless in Laguna Beach, CA every Sunday (minus a few days here and there). There are several people who help out.
Personally certified by Master Stephen Co, Jeff has been a professional healer for over ten years and a professional clairvoyant for four. He leads a meditation group once a week. Temporary vows of silence, celibacy, and fasting as well as sweat lodges and cliff jumping have all been methods Mr. Pool has used to “go to the next level”.
Jeff was with the Orange County Crazies (an improvisational group) for sometime and left to pursue a calling for stand-up comedy, and his version of spiritual comedy was born. He currently does shows in Southern California which have included Agape International, Learning Light Foundation and private events. DVD’s are available.
He is Divinely Blessed with the love of his life, Kathy, and his son David. The Pools are expecting the birth of the new child in April 2007.
